There is something magical about Old Town Alexandria in autumn. This is when the historic red brick buildings meet the golden orange leaves. The fall colors combined with the history of Old Town feels like a scene pulled out of a storybook. Andria and Daniel had a specific vision for their engagement session. They wanted the historic richness of old town combined with the changing colors of autumn. This was such a beautiful day! The combination of the sunny glow and the autumn leaves was gorgeous. The combination created a rich setting for their engagement photo session.

We began our photo session along the waterfront, explored around the neighborhoods of Old Town, and then visited the cobblestone streets at Captain’s Row.

The Waterfront of Old Town Alexandria

We met at sunrise near the waterfront. During sunrise, the water acts like a mirror and reflects the warm glow of the rising sun. The Waterfront in Old Town Alexandria is a very popular spot for engagement photography. This spot looks especially amazing during sunrise because of how the sun rises over the water.

Captain’s Row and the Streets of Old Town Alexandria

After taking photos by the waterfront, we headed to Captain's Row. It is located at the intersection of Prince Street 100 and S Union Street 200. It is one of the most popular locations in Old Town Alexandria for engagement photos. The street is lined by historic row houses, leafy trees, and is paved with cobblestones that were laid in the 1700s. This historic location creates a beautiful backdrop for portraits!

The fall colors match perfectly with this historic setting. The trees lining the street create a natural canopy of red and gold above the cobblestones. We love how this creates a rich autumn color that matches perfectly with the historic setting!
